072: TR/ST - Dark Day

"I think there's something in the song about the flashes that come to you when you try to fall asleep, flashes that show you where you have unfinished business."
TR/ST is the dark and decidedly dynamic musical project of Robert Alfons, who has previously announces a brand new album, Performance, to be released in September of this year via the always-invigorating Dais Records (Choir Boy, Space Afrika).
New single 'Dark Day' encapsulates Alfons' phenomenal and unique style, a layered, dense and surprisingly emotional concoction of sound and texture. While the new album is said to "sink even further into the nasty synth-pop psychodrama that the project has pioneered", there's a deftness to the new track, a kind of weightless energy that never flinches in the face of the gloominess that always threatens to bury the whole thing.
Bold and brilliant; it's in a world of its own and we highly recommend spending a little time under its clouds today.
