077: Stephen Becker - I Held an Echo (ft. Katie Von Schleicher)
Having previously worked with a number of GFP-faves, including Vagabon, Strawberry Runners, and Katie Von Schleicher, Stephen Becker today announces a brand new album of his own, with the Middle Child Syndrome LP arriving later this year via Record Euphoria.
It's the latter of those aforementioned names who turns in a guest appearance on the album's first single. 'I Held an Echo' is a lovely slice of indie-pop featuring a guest turn from Katie Von Schleicher who drapes her voice off the back of Becker's equally compelling falsetto. The track is further decorated with rippling percussion from Sean Mullins (Andy Shauf, Courtney Marie Andrews) and Saxophone from Nate Mendelsohn (Sam Evian, Frankie Cosmos).
With short flashes of unexpected light and colour, oddly shaped nuances that leap out of the track's wider picture, this infectious gem is said to be "a great introduction to this outré-indie rock opus that evokes the daily battle against existential dread and forces which affect our ability to connect with individuals, form community, and fall asleep."
