180: runo plum - Lemon Garland

It's always a joy to dip into the world of Winspear, the L.A. label that we've been covering for years here on GFP, through releases from the likes of Slow Pulp, Kevin Krauter, Barrie and loads more. New to the stable is runo plum, a Minnesota-based artist who has been releasing bedroom recordings for the past half-decade or so, crafting a body of work that has seen her support the likes of Angel Olsen, Searows, and Hovvdy

Tied in with the Winspear news is a brand new single, Lemon Garland, a gem of a track that was recorded with the also-excellent Lutalo in their remote Vermont cabin. Carrying a genuine sense of warmth, the track is hazy and slightly rugged, slipping into the drawn-out days of summer. It feels sensual and sentimental, tugging at a feeling you can't quite place. Something melancholy, something pensive and true.

Hopefully a pre-cursor to a bigger body of work on the horizon, for now it sits simply as it is: a gorgeous flourish of bedroom-pop that feels altogether greater than the sum of its parts. It's really, really good. And sometimes that's just exactly what you need.
