135: Mol Sullivan - Before

135: Mol Sullivan - Before

A year on from the release of her debut album - 2024's GOOSE LP - Mol Sullivan shared Winter '13, a remastered collection of demos that Sullivan initially released way back in 2013. Now, in 2025, Sullivan is a member of WHY? in addition to her her own solo work, and she'll be playing in the Yoni Wolf's live band, and opening the shows, when the band head over to the UK and Europe next month.

Winter 13', which is streaming in full on Bandcamp now, is a thirteen-song collection, a meandering journey through colourful landscapes, that comes to a close with 'Before', an alluring pop song that seems to redefine Sullivan's craft.

The song itself began life in Sullivan's aunt and uncle's basement, recorded with a fish tank bubbling in the background while she worked as their live-in nanny. The newly remastered version tweaks the song into something altogether more expansive and quietly adventurous, Sullivan's voice a fascinating peak to the bubbling undercurrent of production that lends the song a uniquely charming edge.

Shared here today, the song's new video features clips from the original video as well as new footage, which has been given the same, somewhat eerie treatment. "It is a nod to the past, in step with an evocative invitation to Mol's present self," the introduction reads.
