167: Mike Polizze - Around Sound
It's little surprise that the announcement of the new album from Mike Polizze is led by a Kurt Vile quote, such is the earthy, meandering nature of the album's glorious new single 'Around Sound'.
Arriving on the excellent Paradise of Bachelors label, Polizze's second solo album will arrive on July 11th, four years to the day since the release of his debut. Formed of 10 new songs, the album is said to chronicle Polizze's move to a small town and becoming a first-time father; "there is an implicit domestic and familial context that permeates these ten new solo songs," the album's introduction says.
Richly absorbing, the song wanders through seven-minutes of warm acoustic playing led by a brooding, melancholy vocal that wraps like mist around a quiet evening, the overriding greyness bleeding into the fading light, one and the same.
Polizze plays every part and every instrument on the album, and co-produced it alongside friend and collaborator Jeff Zeiglerm who has worked with The War On Drugs, Kurt Vile, Mary Lattimore and more. A beautiful next-move, listen below and grab a pre-order via PoB here.
