121: Japanese Breakfast - Orlando In Love

It seems like just yesterday we had Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner on the cover of Issue 8 of our printed publication. It wasn't, of course. It was, in fact, some (and somehow) almost four years ago, the only silver lining of such swift passing of time is that it's time for a brand new Japanese Breakfast album – and it's been announced today, alongside the first glimpse of the music.

Titled For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), the album is released in just a couple of months time, on March 21st via Dead Oceans. Leading the pack is 'Orlando In Love', the album's shimmering first single and a gorgeous re-introduction to Michelle's craft.

Conjuring a gently romantic mood – all swooning strings and yearning vocals – the song fits the mould of a tantalising tidbit; a brief couple of minutes that acts as a reminder of Zauner's bewitching disposition while giving few secrets away about what the rest of the record might look like.
