067: Haley Heynderickx - Seed of a Seed
Just when we thought it might never happen, the singular star that is Haley Heynderickx returns with a brand new song, 'Seed of a Seed' – her first new music in six long years.
Released today, the stand-alone single is Haley's first release since her once-in-a-generation debut album, I Need to Start a Garden which was released into a different world back in the Spring of 2018. It's sharing is tied to news of a host of solo US shows through the forthcoming Autumn months.
A subtle and fleeting acoustic track, Haley's voice sounds as enchanting and pure as ever before, shaping the words so gracefully into colours all of their own, like a garden gently brought to life. The playing is as decorative as ever, but as always it's the way all the elements come together that truly captivates; a magic that can't be learned.
“I first sent a demo of "Seed of a Seed" to my friend Tré Burt and he loved it. For three years he kept asking me if I'd finished the “better better" song. It felt like a throwaway song to me, at first. It's so simple, but I didn’t realize how much angst I’d woven into it: a desire for simplicity, and how far away that felt. It seems I accidentally pressed my story—the last four years of my life—into a tiny little tune and I love it now, too.”
