150: Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains - Le Fil (Ft. Cassandra Jenkins)

Under his semi-eponymous band name, François Marry has been releasing woozy and luxurious indie-pop records for a number of years now, first breaking through with a 2009 debut album on the Fence label. After subsequently signing to Domino, he released a further four albums throughout the 2010s before unveiling his sixth studio LP at the beginning of the year.
Just a couple months on from that release, Frànçois has shared a new version of a song from that new album, a suitably shimmering version of 'Le Fil'. Elevated by the idea of bringing Cassandra Jenkins into the mix, the collaboration also features brand new lyrics the pair worked on together, during the spontaneous writing session that led to the song's conjuring.
Wrapped in Frànçois' signature groove, the song is a subtle, swirling, seasonal gem, carrying enough warmth in its shuffling limbs to act something like a daydream; an imagined faraway place lingering in the periphery.
Their voices are a perfect pair, Cassandra's careful intonation a perfect foil for Frànçois' elegant delivery and the whole thing comes together with an effortless grace, a three-minute shimmer of something rich and smoothly enchanting.
