058: Dialect - Late Fragment
Just something frayed and beautiful for your Monday listening today. Lifted from a newly-announced album, 'Late Fragment' is a gorgeous instrumental from Dialect, the recording project of Andrew Hunt and the follow-up to 2021's Under~Between LP.
Gently skewed and effortlessly pretty, the new track is absorbing throughout with its layers of subtle keys and clipped samples, an inspired concoction of music and magic that carries you into a new realm for the four-minutes or so that it sticks around for.
The new album is 12-song collection called Atlas Green, released in September via the always-interesting Rvng Intl. label. Said to be inspired by Italian philosopher Federico Campagna, Ursula K. Le Guin and Gene Wolfe, the LP was informed by the work Hunt completed during a residency at Bidston Artistic Research Center - an old observatory that was converted into a creative space back in 2016.
The track is coupled with a fascinating video, directed by Sara Ludy, which we highly recommend checking out below.
