A Day In The Life: Allegra Krieger
Fresh from sharing a wonderful track from her wonderful new album here on three/six/five just yesterday, we're very pleased to share Allegra Krieger's A Day In The Life feature, where she walks us through her musical choices from dawn to dusk.
Allegra's brilliant new album is out now, via Double Double Whammy, and you can read much more about it, via our track of the day feature right here.
Check out her answers below...
What's the first LP you reach for in the quiet of the morning?
Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest by Bill Callahan if I’m craving words or Fennesz' Endless Summer if I’m not. Both albums are really peaceful and poetic in their own way.
What's the one song you play to wake you up and embrace the day ahead?
'Love Is Overtaking Me' by Arthur Russell. There's just something so freeing and inspired about this track - it makes me feel hopeful.
What's your favourite album to accompany you on a road trip?
Miss America by Mary Margaret O'Hara - it's awesomely energetic & surprising.. one of my all time favorites. I've tried to memorize her idiosyncratic inflections, so it's fun to try and sing along.
What are you listening to when the sun begins to go down?
SZA's SOS. I'm obsessed with this record. It has everything. it amps you up, mellows you out, gets you angry and then sentimental.
What's going on the stereo when the night has arrived?
It's a slow jam but I can't stop listening to Cymande’s 'One More'. Ultimate vibe.
Finally, what's the last song you play in the late-night quiet, when the day is over?
I have a lot of these, but narrowing it down to 'White Ferrari' by Frank Ocean, if I'm in my feelings, or 'Avril 14th' by Aphex Twin if I just want to let the day be over.
Art of the Unseen Infinity Machine is out now, via DDW. You can buy it here.
