003: Mike Lindsay - table (feat. Anna B Savage)
Inspired by a 122-year-old dining table in relation to Panpsychism - the idea that every object in the world has a consciousness of some degree - the creepingly enigmatic 'table' is the third single to be shared from Mike Lindsay's forthcoming debut solo album supershapes volume 1, and features a pronounced turn from London singer/songwriter Anna B Savage.
Best known for his work with at the forefront of the skewed-folk project Tunng, Lindsay continues to make good on the promise that his new record means to explore "the miraculous in the mundane": fascinating in its unraveling, the song is meticulously crafted from a colourful yet subtle stirring of synths, brass, and percussion.
Pitched as a series of imagined vignettes from those who've sat around the table over the course of the past century, Savage fills the space with character and characters, her always-engrossing voice like a hand reaching out from the past, inviting you into the very heart of the story.
"All the conversations live inside this table," Anna sings, mantra-like, as the shadows swirl and the grey light settles once more; dust replacing dust replacing dust.
